Turmeric

The turmeric plant (Curcuma longa) from the ginger family has many medical and health benefits. They are found in many households and may even be planted in the backyard for easy access. In addition, this plant has been used to help treat other medical conditions such as diarrhea (constant and watery bowel movement), lung infections, bronchitis, arthritis and others. Turmeric contains a bright yellow compound called Curcumin. This substance has antioxidants, antibacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties that help reduce inflammation and swelling, improve blood circulation throughout the body, and soothe nerve pains. Turmeric may be taken orally or applied topically and as often as needed depending on other factors and conditions of the body.

To take orally, prepare a cup of warm water and mix 1 or 2 teaspoons of turmeric powder. Drink the mixture twice a day or as often as needed. Turmeric may also be consumed as tea.

To use topically, prepare a turmeric paste and coconut oil. Balance the amount and mix them well. Apply the paste to the swelling feet regularly to soothe the pain and improve the conditions of the nerves in the feet.
