Colon/Rectal Cancer
When a polyp grows in the colon or the rectum, it’s usually not something to worry about, as these polyps are noncancerous growths. However, there is a slight chance that the polyp could potentially develop into something more. When the growth becomes cancerous, the process is usually slow, and the symptoms don’t develop until later. Colon cancer can cause many symptoms, some of which concern rectal bleeding. It can cause either fresh (bright red) or older (dark red) bleeding and can be the underlying cause of many symptoms. It sounds scary, but colon/rectal cancer is one of the more easily treatable cancers.
As colon/rectal cancer grows slowly, there’s the capacity to catch it during the early stages. Due to the high probability of detecting such cancer early, it’s easily treatable compared to others. While it’s unfortunate for anyone who happens to be diagnosed with colon/rectal cancer, the good news is that it’s usually caught during the earlier stages. There’s no reason to fret, as you can have it treated and potentially cure colon/rectal cancer early on. Of the two, colon cancer is more common.
