Helps with Type-2 Diabetes
Diabetes is a condition wherein the body cannot make enough insulin, a hormone that regulates the amount of glucose in the blood. With the lack of insulin, too much blood sugar will remain in the bloodstream. Chronic states of high blood sugar can lead to complications such as cardiovascular diseases, kidney diseases, and loss of vision.
There are three types of diabetes; Type 1 Diabetes, which is caused by an autoimmune reaction that stops the production of insulin; Gestational Diabetes, which develops in pregnant women; and Type 2 Diabetes, the most common type wherein the body can generate insulin but is unable to use it well to keep the blood sugar levels normal.
Aside from medication, lifestyle changes are needed to maintain Type 2 Diabetes. This includes proper diet and exercise to keep blood sugar levels low. However, whey protein is also an effective supplement for regulating blood sugar. Studies have shown that it increases the levels of insulin and its effectiveness. It has also been proven that consuming whey protein with or before a high-carbohydrate meal helps moderate blood sugar levels for people with and without Type 2 Diabetes.
