10 Symptoms of Vertigo (Early Signs To Be Aware Of)

Motion Sickness

Motion sickness is the condition suffered by some individuals who don’t feel good whenever they travel by car, train, boat, plane, or other conveyance vehicles. Doctors believe that motion sickness is caused by the repeated movement made by the vehicle when traveling, such as moving over humps and bumps on the road or the up-and-down movement of a boat. Such a condition can also cause vertigo which can be highly uncomfortable.

Health experts say that motion sickness can also be traced to an imbalance in the vestibular system. For example, the inner ear contains three semicircular, tiny, fluid-filled canals, the utricle and saccule. In addition, there are sensitive hair-like sensors that signal to the brain whether the body moves up or down or tilts in one direction. During the process, doctors believe there is a mix-up among the sensory stimuli from the vestibular system and the other organs, resulting in the body responding by feeling sick or unwell.

Doctors recommend vestibular rehabilitation and taking necessary medicines to manage the condition. They also recommend acupressure, increasing ginger intake, eating lightly before a trip, and a blast of fresh air as among the most effective remedies for motion sickness.
