The 14 Health Symptoms Of STD Men You Should Be Aware Of

Testicular Pain

Testicular pain is sometimes a symptom of STDs in men. The pain might be caused by inflammation and irritation of the epididymis, testicle, and spermatic cord. The pain may be felt in the testicles (the pair of organs that produce sperm and secrete hormones), the scrotum (the skin that holds the testicles), or the lower abdomen, groin, inner thigh, or upper leg.

Testicular pain might also result from non-STD-related causes, such as trauma to the scrotum or testicles, urinary tract or prostate gland infections, or an inguinal hernia. Some of these conditions can cause swelling and tenderness in one or both testicles, which may accompany other symptoms such as fever and nausea.

Testicular pain can be caused by conditions that affect men who have sex with men. For example, mumps is often characterized by painful tenderness in one or both testicles. Syphilis infection of the genitals can cause pain in the testes and other symptoms such as sores on the penis or discharge from the penis. Other STDs can cause painful swelling of the epididymis and spermatic cord.
