12 Proven Health Benefits Of Standing Desk

Gives an Energy Boost

In a study published in the Journal of Physical Activity and Health, researchers found that standing rather than sitting during work increases energy expenditure. This boost could help improve overall health and fitness. The study involved 27 volunteers who wore accelerometers for seven-day measurement periods, during which different groups took part in various activities: sedentary (sitting), light standing (standing for up to two hours per day), and prolonged standing (three to five hours a day).

They found that light standers had greater daily energy expenditures than sedentary workers during work and leisure times. Prolonged standers burned even more energy boost, amounting to 14% more than light standers during workdays and 29% more during leisure time. The researchers concluded that standing as much as possible could help you with energy levels and improve overall health.

Cerebral circulation is another important factor that can be affected by prolonged sitting. The main function of cerebral circulation is to supply oxygenated blood and nutrients to the brain, which provides the cells in the brain with energy. With standing desks, the blood flow to the brain is increased. This leads to better cognitive function and a reduced risk of developing conditions.
