Living in Close Quarters with Others
When we are stuck in small spaces with others, we do not have enough room to spread out and avoid them when we need to rest. Without enough space, we are forced to be around the sick ones, which can lead to catching their illness. Small spaces also make it easy for germs to spread from one person to another without effort from either person involved.
This can lead to all people around becoming sick, especially if they were already predisposed to getting ill or already had a milder form of the illness that allowed it to spread easily.
Close quarters can also lead to a sore throat through dry air circulated throughout the building by forced-air heating and cooling systems. This dry air is hard on people’s throats and can cause them to become irritated and scratchy.
