What Could Trigger Nausea? 14 Possible Causes

Early Stages of Pregnancy

Morning sickness is a term used for nausea and vomiting during pregnancy. This condition is very common, especially in the early pregnancy or first-trimester stage. Although it is called morning sickness, contrary to its name, it can be experienced at any time of the day.

Most pregnant women suffer from constant and recurring nausea. This is due to the hormonal change the body undergoes. When the body cannot keep up with the hormonal change, the body reacts through nausea accompanied by vomiting. Sometimes, morning sickness can only be nausea. Others don’t feel nauseous at all. But most pregnant women describe morning sickness as the discomfort and a sensation of throwing up stomach contents and acids.

Nausea in the early stages of pregnancy can cause vomiting and weight loss. These effects are not usually harmful to the mother and child, but they can affect life in many ways, like the inability to work and do everyday activities and chores. Although it is a nuisance, nausea during pregnancy can be a sign of healthy pregnancy. It indicates a surge in the number of hormones needed for the baby to develop properly.
