Diabetes
Diabetes is a disease that affects the blood sugar level. It occurs when the body cannot make or use insulin properly. Diabetes can cause various symptoms, including increased thirst and urination, fatigue, blurred vision, and weight loss. People with diabetes are also at an increased risk for heart disease and stroke.
Diabetes can lead to iron deficiency anemia if it leads to an overproduction of cells in the bone marrow (which creates red blood cells). This may happen if too much sugar is circulating in the bloodstream due to uncontrolled diabetes or if a patient has type 1 diabetes mellitus. In this condition, they don’t produce any insulin.
