10 Low Iron (Anemia) Symptoms & Early Signs – Don’t Ignore

Difficulty Breathing

Labored breathing is one of the most noticeable symptoms when iron is low. With a deficiency of iron in hemoglobin, there comes a lack of sufficient oxygen to go around the body, making breathing increasingly difficult. When there is insufficient oxygen in the blood, breathing becomes difficult and heavy. Because oxygen is needed in just about every bodily function to survive, the body makes sure to create ways to operate under challenging conditions. When oxygen is low, breathing frequency also rises in hopes of coping better.

This symptom is especially concerning in someone who has never had problems connected to breathing and is generally active and healthy. Anemia can lead to a more challenging time completing simple, daily tasks that are usually easy, like, walking, exercising, and climbing a few flights of stairs.
