Pain During Urination
A common symptom of a kidney stone includes pain during urination. Painful urination, or dysuria, may be due to calculus (kidney stone), a bacterial infection, or a bladder tumor. Kidney stones are most common in men between 30 and 50 years old. An individual prone to kidney stones should be aware of the symptoms so they can seek medical attention when needed.
The symptoms are more severe than those associated with urinary tract infections or other conditions that can cause pain in these areas. The pain tends to become less intense after urination and may be intermittent rather than constant, making it difficult to diagnose.
If you feel persistent pain during urination or have blood in your urine, it’s important to seek immediate medical attention so that a physician can assess whether you have kidney stones. Women with an irregular menstrual cycle should also see a doctor if they become aware of changes in their urinary function or if they experience abdominal pain.
