Products with Capsaicin
Capsaicin is a chemical found in chili peppers. It is famous for alleviating a certain type of pain in the nerves called neuralgia. The right amount of capsaicin can help reduce nerve pain transmitters, reducing the burning pain caused by neuralgia. It also increases metabolism, reduces insulin spokes, burns fats, and relieves topical pain. Recently, several studies explored capsaicin’s potential in treating psoriasis.
In 2020, a group of experts explained that capsaicin could fight off inflammation and significantly reduce pain, skin irritation, itchiness, and scaling caused by psoriasis. However, they also highlighted that capsaicin creams could initially cause stinging and numbing sensations. But eventually, these sensations will subside, and patients will experience relief.
Creams, ointments, and other products with capsaicin are used as alternatives to steroids. 8 out of 10 patients who tried products with capsaicin experienced a significant reduction in psoriasis symptoms. Moreover, several clinical studies claim capsaicin can create a protective layer on the skin, preventing inflammation, cell damage, and pain.
