Try an Oatmeal Bath
Oatmeal baths are one of the most effective home remedies to treat various skin conditions like eczema, insect bites, psoriasis, and heat rash. However, before proceeding, it is best to clarify that the oatmeal used for an oatmeal bath is not the same instant oats we eat for breakfast. Instead, doctors recommend finely ground powder called colloidal oatmeals, which bind the skin and make a protective layer or barrier.
Colloidal oatmeal contains beta-glucan, a hydrophilic substance that absorbs water and keeps the skin moisturized. It also has a good amount of saponins, which cleanse the skin and eliminate dead skin cells. And lastly, it contains antioxidants that eliminate free radicals in the skin. It is also proven effective in reducing skin inflammation, redness, and irritation because of its avenanthramide content. All of these are beneficial in treating heat rash.
To prepare an oatmeal bath, fill a tub with warm water and add a cup of colloidal oatmeal. Gently stir the water to dissolve the oatmeal. Soak in the water for ten to 15 minutes, then take a quick shower to remove the stickiness and residue. Oatmeal masks, creams, or scrubs are also proven effective.
