12 Effective Gingivitis Home Remedies You Should Try

Clove Application

Cloves are dried flower buds that originated from India. Indians used cloves in cooking and traditional medicine. It is widely used for oral health due to its reaction to different gum and tooth diseases. For instance, clove is used topically to decrease oral inflammation due to gingivitis. It can also reduce harmful bacteria in the mouth. Applying clove to the gums can decrease the risk of gingivitis even faster since it is applied directly to the affected areas.

To apply cloves topically, mince about one teaspoon of cloves. Dip a damp cotton ball or cloth into the minced cloves. Gently rub the clove-covered cotton ball or fabric onto the gums and let it sit on them for about a minute. Swish it around the mouth to collect the cloves using water. Spit the clove water out.

Although proven effective, using cloves in excessive amounts could cause hypoglycemia; this condition causes the blood sugar levels to drop and slow blood clotting or increase the bleeding since it can interfere with platelet functions.
