12 Home Remedies For Fishy Odor: How To Get Rid Of It

Baking Soda

Baking soda helps in balancing the body’s pH level. If the pH level is balanced, the fishy odor from a woman’s private parts will diminish. In a healthy vagina, the pH level should be around 3.5 to 4.5, making the environment in the vaginal area naturally acidic.

Using baking soda to clean the area helps restore the pH balance because baking soda is naturally alkaline. Alkaline neutralizes the acid; thus, baking soda to wash the vaginal area re-establishes the pH balance to the maximum.

If you decide to use this home remedy, mix one-half cup of baking soda in the bathwater and stay there for 15 to 20 minutes. After the soak, shower quickly and dry your body thoroughly before putting on your clothes. You should ensure that the folds in your body, particularly in the groin area, are dry.

Another thing you can do is to make a vaginal wash by mixing two teaspoons of baking soda in lukewarm water in a cup. Clean the entire vaginal area with cotton balls soaked in the solution, rinse with regular water, and pat dry. Experts say you should limit the use of baking soda solution as a vaginal wash because its alkaline properties can dry the groin area.
