Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil is a potential natural remedy for eczema. It has anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. These properties may help soothe eczema symptoms and reduce the risk of infection. A person can apply tea tree oil to either neat or diluted skin in carrier oil.

The diluted version of tea tree oil is usually safe for children, adults, and the elderly. However, individuals should always patch-test tea tree oil before applying it to larger areas of the skin. To do a patch test, apply a small amount of diluted tea tree oil to an unaffected skin area. If there is no reaction after 24 hours, it should be safe to use in areas affected by eczema.

It is relatively simple to use tea tree oil to treat eczema. Firstly, clean the affected area with a gentle cleanser and lukewarm water. Do not use harsh soaps or scrub too hard, as this can irritate the skin. Instead, apply a light layer of coconut oil or another suitable moisturizer to the skin while it is still damp. Next, add 1 to 2 drops of tea tree oil to a cotton ball or pad. Swipe this over the affected area and ensure not to use too much as this can irritate.
