Apple Cider Vinegar
Another natural remedy that some people use to treat heartburn is apple cider vinegar. Some believe that taking apple cider vinegar could enhance the performance of one’s digestive health. However, no solid evidence supports this claim yet. This is according to the Department of Defense Dietary Supplement Resource. But drinking a small amount of diluted apple cider vinegar is generally considered safe.
Consuming large amounts of undiluted vinegar can come with health risks. Among these are damaged teeth, and sore throat, among others. This can even trigger acid reflux which produces heartburn.
However, should you decide to try this home remedy, simply dilute one teaspoon to one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in an eight-ounce (237 ml) water and drink it after your meal. It is said that apple cider vinegar can neutralize the pH balance in the stomach. This helps in food digestion and can either stop or reduce acid reflux.
As previously mentioned, there is not much medical or scientific research to back the effectiveness of apple cider vinegar as a natural remedy for acid reflux. But there is also no evidence that disproves its efficacy as an alternative treatment for it.
