Using an Unclean Hot Tub
Pseudomonas bacteria can thrive in poorly maintained hot tubs and heated pools with insufficient chlorine levels to destroy them.
Folliculitis, sometimes known as “hot tub rash,” can be brought on by the bacterium. It usually takes a few days following a hot tub session for the first red, itchy pimples to appear. The disease can spread to others if it is in the water supply.
Infection of the skin surrounding the hair follicles’ root areas is known as folliculitis. Specific kinds of bacteria are responsible for this disease in warm, damp environments. Because of the high pH of healthy skin, the germs that cause heated pool folliculitis usually don’t last long there. An illness like this can sometimes clear up after a week or two. However, if the folliculitis does not clear or other symptoms appear in addition to the rash, people should schedule an appointment with their doctor.
