Sweat
Excessive sweat after working out might be another trigger for developing pimples, including cystic acne. This is because pores open up to allow sweat glands to flush out oil, and as the body sweats off, bacteria and other dirt get trapped when the pores close. This will result in clogged pores and subsequently develop into acne.
In addition, the skin’s PH balance changes when the body sweats, making it an ideal environment for bacteria. Breakout is also highly likely when sweat is combined with friction from clothing, hats, straps, or headbands. Developing pimples from sweats arising from exercise can be avoided by maintaining hygienic workout activities beforehand, throughout, and after.
According to the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD), removing makeup, wearing clean workout clothes, and putting sunscreen on before heading to the gym are some things to do before working out. Meanwhile, using a clean towel to wipe off sweat and not sharing personal belongings (such as headbands) are some must-dos when working out. Lastly, consider showering before going home from the gym.
