Viral Hemorrhagic Fevers
An infrequent occurrence that might cause black vomit is viral hemorrhagic fevers. These diseases attack the various systems in the body and cause internal bleeding in multiple body systems. Therefore, it won’t just be the digestive system that experiences bleeding but also the cardiovascular system. The most famous example of VHFs is Ebola. Fortunately, not all these diseases are as deadly. Some of them cause minor illnesses with worrying symptoms but are very treatable. Dengue is an excellent example since early treatment is available. However, some can be deadly and require immediate medical attention.
VHFs naturally occur in animals and insects but can crossover into the human population. When that happens, infections come from other humans. They spread surprisingly fast and need immediate treatment. The critical thing to remember is that many of these diseases come from tropical areas. So if a person recently returned from a trip to the tropics and started to show symptoms, they need to isolate themselves and call a doctor.
