Peptic Ulcers
The bleeding might be happening inside the stomach itself. It can result from a peptic ulcer which is technically a wound in the stomach lining. Considering it is inside the stomach, it is very difficult for this to happen, but it is possible. Heavy drinking of alcohol will irritate the stomach lining. The result can be sores breaking out on the lining as the irritation becomes an inflammation. Alcohol can also scour away the protective mucus of the stomach lining, which makes it vulnerable to stomach acids. Increased acidity of stomach acids can also be a potential reason for ulcers. The reason could be an unhealthy diet or increased stress.
When ulcers do occur, the bleeding can come with burning abdominal pain. The stomach acids damage the ulcer, especially during and after meals. The problem with treating an ulcer is that the ulcer faces more irritation every time a person eats. Medication to weaken stomach acids or provide an additional protective lining in the stomach is often the closest cure. Doctors will also usually recommend a lifestyle change, like giving up alcohol and smoking, along with a milder diet.
