12 Causes & Triggers of Balanitis You Shouldn’t Ignore (List)

Poor Hygiene

Poor hygiene of an uncircumcised penis is one of the most common causes of balanitis. Dead skin, bacteria, yeast, pee, and sweat can quickly build up in the foreskin and cause inflammation and infection. Unwashed soap, shower gels, and body wash may also lead to skin irritation.

In most cases, the foreskin is often overlooked when taking a bath and skipped when drying the body with a towel. Because of this smegma, a yellow and thick substance produced by the penis’ sebaceous glands builds up between the foreskin and the tip of the penis. This buildup can cause irritation, swelling, and discomfort.

Young uncircumcised boys are usually the victims of balanitis caused by poor hygiene. As a result, they suffer from extreme itchiness, pain or difficulty with urination, high fever, and rashes all over the body. Children must be taught how to clean and take care of their sex organs to avoid these incidents. It would also help if they were prepared to report any discomfort or pain they feel in their genitals to receive proper medical treatments immediately.
