Mouth Trauma
Tooth trauma is one of the most common causes of yellow teeth. When you experience trauma to your teeth, it can lead to yellowing of the tooth. This is because the trauma can cause damage to the dentin layer of your teeth. The dentin layer is what produces the white color in your teeth.
A healthy dentin layer will produce a natural shine in the color of ivory or white on your teeth. However, when this layer becomes damaged, it loses its ability to give off that healthy shine and instead appears yellow. To make matters worse, this discoloration will remain even after treatment and does not go away no matter how often you brush your teeth or visit your dentist for cleaning and whitening treatments.
The most common cause of tooth trauma is biting down on hard or sharp objects. If you bite down on something hard enough to crack your tooth or chip off some enamel, you’ll see enamel loss where the tooth is damaged. If you don’t treat this issue immediately by visiting your dentist and getting the chip or crack fixed, it will become a much bigger problem.
