Prednisolone tablets are one of these medications that help prevent the further progression of vitiligo by suppressing your immune system. It also helps reduce the pain associated with this condition.
This kind of treatment works by inhibiting T-cells and macrophages, which cause inflammation in your body. These cells also help activate B-cells which produce antibodies that attack pigmentation-producing cells called melanocytes. Because these cells are destroyed, they cannot produce melanin, resulting in lighter skin color.
In general, prednisolone tablets can treat all forms of vitiligo if you have achieved a stable condition for at least six months or longer. However, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, then there’s a possibility that the drug could be transferred to you. This is why it’s important to get a doctor’s opinion before taking this medication.
