“Walk and Turn Around” Exercise

The “Walk and Turn Around” Exercise is a simple exercise that can help alleviate the dizziness and nausea associated with vertigo. In addition, it is one of the vertigo exercises that can be performed without assistance from a physical therapist, making it ideal for those experiencing vertigo but not ready to follow more detailed vertigo exercises.

This exercise is performed in four simple steps. First, start standing up straight with your feet together and your arms at your side. Then, step forward about twelve inches and turn ninety degrees to the left. Now you will be facing in the opposite direction from which you started. After that, take another twelve inches to step forward with your right, so you are facing directly ahead. The direction in which you are facing is your new front. Finally, take a twelve-inch step back with your left foot so you are standing with your feet together and your arms at your side. You have now completed one full circuit of the room.
