Canalith Repositioning Procedures
The Canalith Repositioning Procedure is used to treat several health problems, including vertigo and other balance issues, TMJ dysfunction, headaches, and various other conditions. One of the main focuses of this procedure is the relationship between the dural membrane and the endolymphatic sac (the fluid-filled membrane which surrounds each inner ear).
CRT works by manipulating these membranes and their relationship with each other to restore balance in the body. To do so, you would lie down in a prone position on a table designed specifically for this purpose. A small pillow will cradle your head to support your neck as you lay face-down on your stomach, with your forehead touching or very close to touching the tabletop. The practitioner will then use their fingers to manipulate your skull and spine in tiny ways while moving your head around the table. These tiny manipulations are done to restore balance and facilitate body healing.
CRT is not a type of massage therapy but uses some of the same techniques. It also has elements of osteopathy in that it focuses on restoring proper alignment within your body to function optimally.
