Bad Urine Odor
Urine has a distinct smell, and some describe it as ammonia-like. But although it doesn’t necessarily have a good odor, if it smells differently than usual, like if it has a stronger fishy or foul smell, it could be due to various things, including some underlying conditions. For example, kidney problems, including kidney stones or high levels of uric acid in the body, could make it difficult to filter waste, which could cause a change in your urine, including its odor and color. Other conditions that may cause it are trimethylaminuria, diabetes, and sexually transmitted diseases.
Dehydration is a possible cause of the urine’s foul smell. A mixture of chemicals and water exits the body through urine. If you don’t have enough water in your system, then the urine would be composed mostly of chemicals, which could cause a bad odor. So, keeping yourself hydrated may help prevent the foul smell when you pee. Some foods may also cause it because of their chemical content. Examples are asparagus, salmon, onion, and garlic.
