Swelling of Joints
Soft tissues surround joints and serve as their cushion. However, if there’s fluid buildup in the tissues, it could cause the joints to swell. As a result, the affected area may become irregularly shaped or larger than usual. Arthritis is one of the leading causes of joint swelling, which include gout, so it could also be a symptom of hyperuricemia. Other conditions and injuries may also cause the swelling, so if it continues, go to the doctor to find the actual cause and get the right remedy.
Even the different types of arthritis have different causes, thus their treatment may also vary. For example, since gout is caused by excess uric acid built into crystals, treatment may include lowering the uric acid level in the body. On the other hand, rheumatoid arthritis is a condition where the system attacks itself, causing fluid buildup on the tissues leading the joint swelling. So, you would need other management options, like certain medications, therapy, and surgery. Unfortunately, there is currently no cure for rheumatoid arthritis, but the treatments can help manage the symptoms and prevent the condition from getting worse.
