Severe Joint Pain

Like joint stiffness, joint pain can also range from mild to severe. It’s usually caused by not having enough lubrication between joints, causing them to rub against each other, thus causing pain. Common symptoms include noisy joints when moving, motion loss, swollen joints, and numbness. Some medications provide pain relief. Exercise could also help loosen the joints and muscles and alleviate pain. You may also use topical creams and heat pads to feel better.
However, if the condition interferes with your daily routine, go to your GP for proper diagnosis and treatment. They will ask about your history, examine the affected area, and may perform further tests.
Gout is one of the possible causes of severe joint pain, which could also be due to hyperuricemia. But since other forms of arthritis may also cause it, your doctor will be able to tell the exact cause and give the appropriate treatment. Your healthcare provider may recommend using supportive aids, steroids, or therapy. Surgery may also be an option if the other treatments don’t work.
