Hematuria
You could feel alarmed if you see blood in your urine. The condition is called hematuria, and it could be harmless, or it could also be a symptom of a more serious health problem. But it’s recommended that you seek medical attention to determine the cause to prevent it from worsening. For instance, kidney stones or hyperuricemia may cause it. Sometimes, blood is invisible to the naked eye and can only be detected through a microscope. So, if you see your urine change in color, like it becomes brownish, pinkish, or reddish, get help from your physician. Other kidney problems may also cause bleeding, like pyelonephritis or kidney infection, and kidney injury.
UTI may also cause blood to show in the urine. Besides the color or traces of blood in the urine, it may also have a foul smell, and you may feel frequent and painful peeing. Men with enlarged prostrate may also have hematuria as it prevents urine from flowing properly. Moreover, certain medications like penicillin and drugs used for treating cancer may cause blood to appear in the urine. Extensive exercise is another possible cause, which could be due to dehydration or bladder trauma.
