Bad Breath
Bad breath is a common symptom of an upper respiratory infection (URI), also known as the common cold. The virus that causes the common cold, called rhinovirus, is known to cause inflammation in your nasal passages and throat, leading to bad breath.
You must see your doctor for a proper diagnosis and treatment if you have bad breath during a URI. Most medications used to treat bad breath don’t kill bacteria or other micro-organisms responsible for causing it; instead, they temporarily coat your tongue and mouth with a layer of chemicals that hide the smell of sulfur compounds in your mouth.
