Healthier Diet
A diet high in sugar is frowned upon by dental experts. First, this is because the daily consumption of high amounts of sugar can cause cavities. This is because sugar serves as food to the harmful microbes in the oral cavity, between the teeth, the tongue, and the gums. In addition, sugar combines with the dirt and bacteria inside the mouth, forming tartar which damages the tooth enamel.
The World Health Organization advises patients to limit their sugar intake. Tooth decay caused by sugary foods is more common among children since they haven’t established good oral hygiene yet. Children also like candies, chocolates, processed foods, and sugary drinks.
