Chloraseptic Sprays
Chloraseptic is a throat spray used to temporarily relieve pain and irritation of the sore in the throat. It contains local anesthesia called benzocaine, which provides temporary relief from pain. Benzocaine works by diffusing the nerve cells into the sodium channels. These cells bind together with sodium. As a result, it prevents the channels from creating an opening and blocks the influx of sodium ions.
Experts say that benzocaine possesses antibacterial and antimicrobial properties, which help the tonsils soothe as they numb the throat. Numbing the throat is a pre-procedural treatment that neutralizes the pain experienced by the throat.
The numbness helps remove tonsil stones much easier and quicker, with less discomfort. However, the pain when removing the stones will cause damage and bleeding to the tonsils due to their inability to tolerate the aggression caused by picking the stones.
