Walking Barefoot
Footwear is a garment used to protect the feet from infections, physical trauma, and injuries. This clothing has been used for centuries to prevent diseases and conditions that may affect the feet’ function. For example, some wear footwear to avoid stepping on things contaminated with viruses, harmful microbes, and fungi.
Walking barefoot has a lot of harmful effects. First, it causes pain and discomfort since the feet can get wounded by rocks, twigs, and other sharp materials. Aside from that, it also exposes the feet to external invaders such as fungi, bacteria, and viruses. These microorganisms can infect the skin and nails. An example of this is toenail fungus.
When the feet are exposed to these external invaders, it increases the risk of infections, which results in various diseases. For example, toenail fungus may be acquired due to the exposure of the feet to the ground. Since toenail fungus is contagious, it can easily be transferred from contaminated surfaces to the feet and toenails.
