Athlete’s Foot
Athlete’s foot or tinea pedis is a skin disorder caused by fungi. This condition usually begins in the toes and the soles of the feet. This usually infects people whose feet are exposed to sweat for a long period while confined in tight-fitting shoes.
Symptoms of tinea pedis include itchiness, scales, and rashes. In severe cases, an appearance of inflamed skin and blisters are more common. It is severe and may become contagious. It can spread through contact with someone with tinea pedis and dirty things such as towels, clothing, and floors.
An athlete’s foot is considered a fungal infection. The fungi that cause this disease can also spread in the toenails, leading to fungus. Since tinea pedis is found in the feet, the vulnerability of the feet to being infected with toenail fungus also increases. As the athlete’s foot develops, the fungus which causes the infection spreads across the feet.
