What Could Trigger Toe Cramp? 13 Possible Causes

Pregnancy

Most women gain weight when they are pregnant. Experts say that there are two main reasons why weight gain is inevitable during pregnancy. The first one is that as the baby grows inside, the mother also bears the weight of the unborn child. The second reason is the accumulation of water or fluid used to circulate the child inside the body.

The weight gain present during pregnancy is related to toe cramps. As the weight increases, the blood volume and potential swelling also spike up, prompting the weight to be placed on the feet. The weight also compresses the blood vessels or nerves found on the feet. As a result, it constricts and narrows the blood vessels, decreasing the blood flow in the feet. These conditions result in a greater risk of cramping.

Another reason for toe cramping is the influx of hormones during pregnancy. The hormones change the natural tone of the body. It makes the hormones circulate all over the body, change metabolism, have a nutrient deficiency, and make the body passive and active.
