Arthritis
Arthritis is a condition wherein the joints are swollen and tender. One or more joints’ inflammation causes pain, soreness, and discomfort. Its main symptoms are joint pain, stiffness, swelling, redness, and a decreased range of motion. There are two main types of arthritis; the first one is osteoarthritis. This is the more common type of arthritis between the two. It causes friction on the bones as the body moves. The second one is rheumatoid arthritis. This type of arthritis causes changes in the bones and deteriorates the connective tissues attached to the muscle and bones.
Arthritis commonly occurs in the joints of the hands, knees, hips, and toes. The inflammation of the tissues and cartilage found on the toes may cause pain and cramps. The pain is often described as a deep and sharp stabbing sensation, especially when there are movements. The severity of the cramps may differ depending on the level of inflammation or deterioration in the joints.
The cramps may also result in the locking of the joint. This is due to the swelling and stiffness of the toes. It enables the toes to bend and grip, which is why movements are painful and its functions are not done.
