Pinched Spinal Nerve
Spinal nerves are a group of nerve fibers connected to the spinal cord. It transfers messages from the brain to the different body parts. These nerves supply messages in most body parts, except for the head and neck areas. When these nerves are compressed, it causes a condition called a pinched nerve. A pinched nerve is caused by pressing the nerve roots by the surrounding tissues around it. When the pressure applied to these nerves is excessive, it can cause pain, numbness, and tingling sensation in the body.
Pinched nerves typically affect the thigh and leg region. This is due to the function of the spinal nerve in the body. It mostly controls the lower extremities, where most large movements come from. Some pinched spinal nerve cases occur due to a herniated disk. This condition makes the disk between the spinal cord and vertebrae slip. As a result, the pain from the neck will go down to the thigh because the nerves are connected to those areas.
A pinched spinal nerve can affect the lower extremities, especially the thighs. This condition is painful and can cause discomfort when moving, but it can be treated with proper rest, physical therapy, and over-the-counter medications.
