Fever
Fever is one of the most common symptoms of syphilis. Unfortunately, it is also one of the first signs of infection. If you have a fever and another STD, it also makes sense to test for syphilis because many other STDs can give you a fever that looks just like the fever caused by syphilis.
Fever can be a symptom of syphilis in two ways. First is the body’s immune response to the presence of syphilis within the body can cause a fever, and second, neurosyphilis, one of the secondary manifestations of untreated syphilis, which can cause a fever as part of its symptoms.
If you have a mild fever of 101°F to 102°F or less, that is not a symptom of syphilis. However, if your temperature is above 101°F (38°C), that could be a sign. In addition to the fever, you may also experience chills and fatigue as symptoms of syphilis.
When you have these symptoms or signs, immediately make an appointment with your healthcare provider to get tested for syphilis and other STDs.
