Neurological Disorders
Neurological disorders can also be one of the symptoms of syphilis. The most well-known symptom is general paresis, which affects the motor neurons. This makes the brain go out of control and affects the body’s ability to move. The other neurological disorder caused by syphilis is tabes dorsalis, which affects the sensory and motor nerves. Both of these disorders are due to syphilis affecting the nervous system.
These two disorders result in a person’s inability to move and not feeling anything on their skin. Even though this disease is known as “the great imitator,” people with syphilis cannot imitate any neurological disorders or symptoms other than those they have. Syphilis symptoms vary depending on where it affects the body and how long a person has had it.
