Dysentery
Dysentery is a highly infectious disease that causes severe diarrhea with blood and mucus. An infection of the intestines causes by a bacterium called Shigella dysenteriae type 1. Dysentery is often spread through contaminated food or water, and outbreaks are common in areas with poor sanitation. People can also get it from infected animals, including dogs, rats, and flies.
