Constant Fatigue
Exhaustion can make even getting out of bed in the morning feel like a monumental task. And while there are many potential causes of fatigue, one often overlooked is E. coli-induced urinary tract infections.
Fatigue is a classic symptom of a UTI, though it’s not typically associated with the condition. Many women report feeling fatigued before other symptoms appear. Whether or not an individual experiences fatigue, when they have a UTI depends on variables such as overall health, age, and the severity and location of the infection.
Individuals with pre-existing conditions that weaken the immune system or are taking medications that cause fatigue are more likely to become tired at the early stage of an uncomplicated UTI. Additionally, if the infection has spread from the lower urinary tract to the kidneys, this is also a sign that fatigue will set in.
One effective way to manage fatigue during a UTI infection is to exercise regularly. Exercise increases blood flow and helps reduce stress, which can help improve fatigue caused by a UTI.
