12 Symptoms Of Arsenic Poisoning You Should Know

Vertigo

Vertigo is the feeling that the immediate environment is spinning or moving. It is not a condition but a symptom. For some people, the spinning sensation is not noticeable. However, it could be difficult for some people to keep their balance during an attack, preventing them from performing their daily tasks comfortably.

The common cause of vertigo is a problem with the inner ear. First, it could be due to benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). The condition occurs when dislodged small calcium particles called canaliths move and gather in the inner ear. Because of this, the inner ear sends a signal to the brain so that the person can keep their balance.

Vertigo could also be due to labyrinthitis or vestibular neuritis caused by a viral infection of the inner ear. Another cause is Meniere’s disease, a disorder due to fluid buildup, which exerts pressure on the inner ear. Aside from vertigo, people may also feel a ringing in their ears (tinnitus). It could cause or lead to loss of hearing.

But vertigo is also one of the first signs that arsenic toxicity has reached a critical level, and the person needs immediate medical help.
