Seizures
According to doctors, an uncontrolled electrical disturbance in the brain characterizes a seizure. Likewise, abnormal brain activity can cause changes in a person’s behavior, feelings, and levels of consciousness or movements.
People should consider it a medical emergency if the seizure lasts more than five minutes. Typically, an episode only lasts between 30 seconds and two minutes. The type of seizure varies depending on which part of the brain the activity occurred, and how far it moved across the brain.
Seizures can be due to arsenic poisoning, which affects the kidneys, lungs, liver, and skin. A person suffering from arsenic poisoning will have seizure episodes during the final stage, along with shock. At this point, the patient could become comatose or they could die.
Besides the last stage of arsenic poisoning, healthcare practitioners explain that seizures are common, as they could result from a stroke, infection, or closed head injury. Often, the cause of the attack is unidentified. Medication can control seizure disorders, and the best option for someone afflicted with it is to work with their doctor to balance the drug’s side effects and prevent the seizure.
