Epididymitis
The epididymis comprises a network of tiny tubes responsible for the collection and storage of sperm. It is fastened to the posterior aspect of each testicle. Epididymitis, also known as swelling of these coiled tubes, is one of the most prevalent reasons for discomfort in the scrotum. This inflammation, which infection may bring on, is one of the frequent causes of scrotal pain. In addition, the infection can progress to the testicles, a condition known as epididymo-orchitis.
Epididymitis is often a secondary staph disease that leads to bad situations, such as an infection of the urinary tract or an infection that is sexually transmitted. This is because the bacteria found in the urethra eventually make their way to the epididymis after traveling through the urinary and reproductive organs.
Antibiotics and bed rest are also possible courses of treatment. Certain men are predisposed to developing chronic epididymitis, an inflammation of the epididymis, even in the absence of an infection.
