Dental Braces
Many people suffer from dental problems such as crowding, too many teeth, and not enough space for new ones. As a result, some of the teeth become crooked and overlap the others. Malocclusion, or when the teeth are not properly aligned, could affect the gums and other teeth. If these dental problems persist, it will be hard to bite and chew food and pronounce words properly, and the face’s overall appearance will be affected. Dental braces are used to correct the teeth that are not properly aligned and are prescribed by a dentist or an orthodontist.
Though braces are important to achieve the expected result, there are disadvantages and possible problems that may occur. Dental braces may cause the lips to swell badly. Reasons for swelling are: first, the newly placed braces would rub the insides of the mouth, cheeks, and lips. Continuous rubbing would cause the lips to swell. Another is a nickel allergy. Some people have specific allergies to nickel braces, so it would be best to remove and replace them. If the lips and the mouth start to swell, consult the orthodontist immediately.
