The 13 Causes of Swollen Lips (You Should Definetly Be Aware Of)

Lip Injury

Accidents can happen at any time and anywhere in the world. It may occur due to riding vehicles like motorcycles and cars, or bikes, and an injury caused by work tools, sports equipment, and sometimes, because of fist fights. One of the easily affected and injured areas of the body is the lips. Without a protective cover such as a mask or cloth, the lips could easily get bruised and damaged as they are situated in front of the face. Children ages 3-6 love to play with their friends outdoors.

Furthermore, kids tend to run, climb, and join outdoor activities, possibly making them fall on the ground, cut their lips, and bleed. Adults, on the other hand, especially men, sometimes get involved in fistfights and would take a direct hit on the face and cut the corners of the lips. A forceful strike on the lips makes them bleed and swell painfully. The swelling usually happens overnight. Upon receiving a lip injury, it is best to clean the wound first, disinfect it, and take over-the-counter medicines to counter the bacteria that could lead to infection.
