Cold Compress
Based on the data gathered from past research, the skin’s temperature will drop by sponging it with cold water or by taking a cold bath or compress. The inflammation that develops around a sunburn can be controlled by applying a cold compress to the affected area. Consuming much water can help replenish the fluids the body is losing while trying to heal from sunburn.
Applying a cold compress to the skin (but not directly on a burnt region) for short periods can help alleviate the pain and discomfort caused by a burn. To reduce pain and swelling, icing the area with an ice pack or a cool, wet towel may help, but only for up to 20 minutes. Ice or ice packs should never be applied directly; instead, wrap the cold compress in a towel to avoid overcooling. Keep that in mind, even if it does help ease the discomfort of sunburn. The agony of a sunburn can be alleviated by taking frequent cool or cold showers, but this routine may cause the skin to dry out.
