Inadequate Nutrition
Inadequate nutrition can indirectly cause the development of a stye and lead to a weak immune system. Most inflammations are developed when bacteria fester on the body. The growth of bacteria is affected by how strong an immune system is. Having a compromised system leads to susceptibility to infections. Faster bacterial growth will make a person susceptible to inflammations. Aside from the glaring issue of a compromised immune system, there is also the problem of inadequate nutrition creating an infection or inflammation.
Based on studies, oily foods are prominent contributors to eye infections such as stye. A diet of high-fat foods amounts to around 20 percent of eye infection cases among children.
Regular consumption of high-calorie and deep-fried foods contribute to susceptibility to contracting stye. Oily foods can also cause inflammation when they get in direct contact with pores in the face, and oil can get trapped in the pores of the eyelid. The excess oil from foods can enable the growth and development of stye. Based on another study, an imbalance in the diet and overconsumption of refined carbohydrates heightens the susceptibility to contracting stye.
