Bowel Movement Pain
Painful bowel movements are one of the symptoms of STDs in men. When a man has an STD, his immune system is weakened, increasing the likelihood of contracting another infection. When the immune system is compromised, antibodies cannot fight off invading germs as well as they should. This means the body cannot fight off pathogens like viruses and bacteria, which can lead to other infections besides STDs.
Also, when antibodies attack, they release chemicals that cause inflammation and redness in surrounding tissues. This inflammation causes pain because it’s both painful and makes nearby nerves more sensitive to pain. The most common STD for men is chlamydia. It causes painful bowel movements due to its ability to infect some of the cells that line the colon.
If you’re concerned about your symptoms, you should visit your doctor to be tested for STDs. For example, painful bowel movements might not be an STD symptom for everyone, but it’s worth getting a doctor’s opinion about any new health issues you experience.
